Dentistry Evolved

State-of-the-Art Dental Technology

Using the most advanced dental technology available is just as important as staying up-to-date on the latest treatment techniques. Most popular among them are the digital imaging devices as well the computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacture (CAM) systems that have completely revolutionized techniques for replacing missing teeth and fabrication of dental restorations.

Our downtown Portland dental office is dedicated to providing you with the safest and most convenient treatment options available by utilizing advanced digital technology in our practice. This is great for our patients as it provides a more faster, more comprehensive experience instead of resorting to older, more invasive techniques.

What is Digital Dentistry?

Digital dentistry refers to the application of extremely precise digital, computer-aided appliances for performing dental procedures, that were previously performed manually or by using mechanical devices. Thanks to digital dentistry, designing and fabrication of a dental crown only takes a few minutes at the dental chair side. This is in shear contrast to traditional manual practices which took days, even weeks for preparing a dental prosthesis.

The following list represents the majority of the areas of digital dentistry all of which incorporate digital components:

  • CAD/CAM and intraoral imaging
  • Computer-aided implant dentistry
  • Digital radiography
  • Electric and surgical/implant handpieces
  • Occlusion and TMJ analysis / diagnosis
  • Photography — extraoral and intraoral
  • Practice and patient record management
  • Shade matching

How Digital Dentistry Benefits Our Patients

Advancements in digital dentistry have allowed for extremely streamlined processes, which have proved to show positive results in terms of both time and cost for patients. Although some dental practices are just now starting to incorporate advanced technologies to enhance their diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, Dr. Wang and Centerport Dental is among the pioneers to have introduced CAD-CAM and digital radiography into routine practice. What this means for our patients is a faster, comprehensive dental experience that exceeds expectations.
